There is a strong potential for diluting the research preparation required for the PhD if we also want to address advanced clinical issues. Phd and audiology programs don’t require Masters degrees after getting a Bachelors. I can’t think of any field requiring a Clinical Doctorate (Dentistry, pharmacy, NP) that requires you to get a Bachelors AND Masters degree, you just get a Bachelors, then go straight to grad school. To get an SLPD takes 9 years of school. That’s ridiculous.There are 10 to 15 million doctors in the world.
